The August 2012 Newsletter of The Jersey Cape Shell Club

The August 2012 Newsletter of
The Jersey Cape Shell Club
PO Box 124
Stone Harbor, NJ 08247
Our upcoming meeting will be on Monday August 6, 7:30 pm at the Wetlands Institute Stone Harbor Blvd. Stone Harbor
We will show a CD titled “The Life of Mollusks” by Shelline Group, of Italy.
This is a well made, narrated film of a walk on a shallow water reef in Kenya, eastern Africa, and shows many live mollusks in their habitat, as well as other sea life. Thanks to our treasurer, Stephanie Schrader, for providing this program for our enjoyment!
For the August meeting, desserts for the meeting will be provided by Karen Lelli and Mary Still. Mary is also bringing beverages and Barbara Rulon will supply paper products. Thank you ladies!
===========================================================================
From our president and shell show chairperson, Karen Lelli-
Wow! To all of you exhibiting, thank you! Right now, I have about 58 feet of Scientific exhibits and 27 feet of Artistic exhibits including a few Youth exhibits with the promise of more to come. These are really good numbers. I have a good feeling about this show. I hope that some late stragglers come through.

We are having difficulties with our newsletter, so I hope you are very patient with us this year. That being said, I hope to have everyone call me or email me with any questions you may have about our show this year. (

For all of you who are very loyal patrons and guests, I hope to see you at the show. Public support means everything to us. Since we are non profit and not charging our children, and only charging our adults (non members) $2.OO, for the show, we count on huge numbers of guests to help pay the enormous fees for the rent, ribbons, trophies, judges, supplies, guest speakers, and the list goes on.
The Wetlands Institute is a beautiful place to visit. Families come to the shell show and always appreciate the warm greeting from the shell club volunteers, and knowledgeable treatment of the Wetlands staff and the special environmental hands on, and visual programs which only the Wetlands Institute can offer. So, join us on August 17, 18 and 19th for a memorable event. Your family will thank you, and we will, too.

Sincerely, Karen Lelli, Pres. of the JCSC and Shell Show Chair
PS Karen is setting up the annual exhibit in the Cape May County Public Library, 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House. Please stop by to see what she has done (in addition to everything else she does- oh Karen, you are a marvel!)
